Cottage Riimantupa details
Fields, woods and a small pond surround this large old threshing house built with logs and boards of timber. Work on its timber extension is going on once-twice a year. This work has taken and will probably still take many years, so now the extension is used as a storage place. The other end, Riimantupa is a captivating part of the old house with its unusual layout and other features. Riimantupa accommodates 7 persons.
On the ground floor there is a kitchen/living room with a fridge and electric hobs/oven and cold/hot running water. There are two beds at the far end of the room. There is also an inside dry toilet. The stairs take you further to a small sitting room with two beds on the middle floor and then still further to the mezzanine with three mattresses on the first floor.
A glass verandah leans to the exterior wall.
For washing there is a sauna nearby, called Mäntyäikän sauna with a verandah. The sauna stands next to a pond with natural spring water coming into it as well as rain water. This water can be used in the sauna.
The idyllic beach area of Riimantupa is called Tervastanhua. There is a wood burning sauna, a dressing shed, a garden swing seat and a jetty by the Lake Havulampi 400 m away, mostly downhill from Riimantupa.
